I came up with this idea because I was getting annoyed of keep on removing the detector when not driving and mounting it back when I drive. Obviously you don't want it to sit on your windshield in full view, that would be an invitation for theft. I put it up high, which is much less noticeable. I'm lazy, I don't want to constantly taking it off and mounting it back everytime I drive. I did some research and the best place to detect radar is as high as possible on the windshield, however it is the worst place for detecting laser. The best spot to detect laser is the lowest point on the windshield as cops aim at the front of your car not the windshield, but then again it will be the worst place for detecting radar because radar do not penetrate so well through metal. The expert recommend the middle of the windshield for the balance of detecting both radar and laser however putting it in the middle meaning you would have to remove them when not in use. It's semi-permanent because you can still remove it if you want to.
