Coming back home from the 4th of July vacation I noticed that my 500$ radar detector, Escort 9500ix, was acting like someone shoots at me with the laser gun, everytime I use my '04 GTO's horn. I was expecting this from a 50$ Cobra, but not from an Escort. So, I guess it's time to say goodbye, Escort! I defended you for years, arguing with my V1 friends that you were the best on the market. I was wrong. Goodbye, Escort! Hello Valentine One! UPDATE !!! After thinking about this for a week, I called back Escort's customer service. I sent them the unit and a 79.99 check. They said that the 79.99$ fee is for the laser false alert repair, a vip factory tuneup, new windshield mount and new power cord. Who wants to bet that the detector will false alert the exact same way when it comes back from Escort in 2 weeks.? Stay tuned for part 2!!!
